December 4 is the day of the Manas epic

On December 2, the Department of Kyrgyz Literature of the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology and Journalism at Osh State University held a seminar on “Manas Day – the Day of the Nation” dedicated to the Day of the Manas Epic.

Doctors of Philology Gulina Zhamgyrchieva spoke on “The current social significance and research of the epic” Manas “, Baktygul Temirova” The relationship between the epic “Manas” and Kyrgyz literature “, Associate Professor Abdumitalip Murzakmetov” Secrets of the world of Manas “.

As part of the seminar, an exhibition dedicated to the Day of the Manas Epic was organized. The exhibition is brought from the personal library of the head of the Department of Kyrgyz Literature, Candidate of Historical Sciences, ethnographer Abdimitalip Murzakmetov. There are about 130 valuable volumes, books, texts, monographs, curricula related to the epic “Manas”, as well as souvenirs, pocket calendars, and badges. Books such as Sayakbai Karalaev’s 4 volumes of 5036 pages and Jusup Mamai’s 8 volumes were exhibited.

The event was organized by the Department of Kyrgyz Literature to introduce the day of the epic “Manas” to teachers and students, to encourage the preservation and dissemination of the epic “Manas” as a national heritage.

On December 4, 2013, the trilogy “Manas”, “Semetei”, “Seek” was included in the UNESCO list of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.” In this regard, in 2015, the government declared December 4 – the day of the epic “Manas”
