Osh State University mourns death of its former Rector Professor Dr. Kanybek Isakov
Kanybek Abduvasitovich Isakov (June 4, 1969 – November 12, 2020) was a Scientist-writer, Doctor of Philology , Professor , former Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic . As Rector of Osh State University in 2011-2019, he was recognized as a reformer in the higher education system in Kyrgyzstan.
Biography
Born on June 4, 1969 in the village of Dzhany-Nookat, Nookat district, Osh region, Kyrgyzstan.
In 1986 he began to work as an employee at the collective farm “Bel-Oruk”;
In 1987 he entered the Osh State University with a degree in Kyrgyz language and literature. In 1988-1990. served in the Soviet Army, and then in 1990-1993. continued his studies and received a diploma with honors;
In 1993, he began his scientific career as a teacher of the Department of Linguistics of the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology of Osh State University, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology (1997), Assistant Rector for Educational work of Osh State University (1998), Senior Lecturer (1999), Vice-Rector for Public Education (2000), Associate Professor (2002 );
In 1995, he was appointed chief editor of the Nur newspaper;
In 2001 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of sciences;
In 2005, he was appointed Vice-Rector for the State Language at Osh State University;
In 2011 he defended his doctoral dissertation;
In 2006—2011. – Rector at the Osh State Humanitarian Institute;
In 2011—2019. – Rector of Osh State University;
From September 11, 2019 to October 14, 2020, he served as the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On November 12, he died in a hospital in Bishkek. It is noted that 51-year-old Professor K. Isakov was hospitalized with a diagnosis of pneumonia.
The funeral will take place on November 13, 2020 in his native village in the Naukat district of the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan .
