Osh State University celebrated the World Mother Language Day
Osh State University hosted an international event “Language – the face of the nation”, dedicated to February 21 – World Mother Language Day.
In the courtyard of the university there are exhibitions of cultural heritage, crafts, values of national cultural centers of different nationalities in Osh, exhibitions of works published in recent years by the best faculties and colleges of the university.
The best numbers of the competition were presented in honor of the holiday, and the native language of each nation in the Kyrgyz, Russian, Uzbek, English, German, Turkish, Chinese and Korean languages taught at the university was glorified through songs, dances and art readings. Excerpts from the epic “Manas”, a valuable heritage of Kyrgyzstan, were recited and the national anthem was sung.
The ceremony was attended by Saltanat Amanova, head of the social development department of the Osh Mayor’s Office, Almagul Tilekmanova, head of the regional department for the development of the state language of the National Commission on the State Language under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Baltagul Nurunbetov, chairman of the Osh branch of the People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan. Representatives of the media, faculty and students attended.
As a result, faculties, colleges and talented students who took an active part in the event were awarded diplomas, certificates, cash prizes and letters of appreciation.
The event dedicated to the World Mother Language Day was organized on the initiative of Mastura Sharipova, Vice Rector for State Language and Social Affairs of Osh State University.
In 1999, February 21 was declared World Mother Language Day by UNESCO.
